Why did Driveway’s offer to buy or trade in my car change?

Quick Answer

If your vehicle’s virtual inspection, history report, or loan/lease and ownership information are different from the details you initially provided us, we may need to adjust our offer. This means your offer could go up or down from the original amount.

Thanks for trusting us to give you a fair, no-haggle price for your vehicle. Our offer is based on a few key pieces of information you provided to us early in the Sell/Trade process. As long as all that information was accurate, your offer will be good for 7 days. However, if something has changed with your car's condition, ownership, or lien payoff information, your offer may be adjusted. Here are a few reasons your offer may have changed:

  • The virtual inspection photos revealed your vehicle's condition or optional equipment is different from what you initially reported. For example, if there's damage to your vehicle that wasn't included in your report, or there isn’t actually a sunroof and heated seats, we may adjust your offer to reflect the vehicle's value.

  • The vehicle history report from Carfax revealed a past accident or damage not included in your report to us. There may have been an accident in your car's past that you may not have known about. If that's the case, your offer may change.

Surprises can sometimes be fun, but surprises in the car selling and trade-in processes aren't always welcome. That's why we're transparent with you every step of the way. If you're unsure about your car's condition or history, reach out to one of our Driveway Care Center Agents for a helping hand.
